Jose Luis Bustamante: The Power of the South Wind - Across Borders
Oct 02-Nov 25
The acclaimed Mexican artist, Jose Luis Bustamante, returns to The National Arts Club with an exhibition of new work inspired by his observation of the powerful migration of the south wind. Studying color and movement, Bustamante has created a body of work that captures the warm yet powerful elements of the physical world and emotional spaces.
Tribute to Irving Petlin
Oct 30-Jan 04
Irving Petlin's mastery as draftsman and as a colorist is unmistakable in the series Storms: After Redon. Due to Hurricane Sandy, the 2012 premiere viewing of these works was cancelled. The series will be presented here for the first time. Working on irregular sheets of handmade paper in the unforgiving but radiant medium of pastel, Petlin executes the act of drawing as a gamble between control and risk. Underlying the series is Petlin's subtle and persistent commitment to history and its telling.
