Eddie Arning (1898-1993): Under the Influence
Apr 19-Jun 09
OPENING RECEPTION: April 19, 2018
Presenting a collection of works by Eddie Arning that havent been shown in several decades. Arning is one of the most important--yet under-appreciated--American outsider artists. He worked with oil pastels (Cray-Pas) and magazine illustrations were his major source of visual inspiration--the artist often preserved portions of their compositions, while re-imagining and reconfiguring their elements. The singular characteristics that define Arnings art are bold colors, profiled humans, and tightly-wrought designs with multiple borders.
